Apia customer support team moves in to help bushfire affected residents

Apia’s Customer Response Team – a mobile insurance claims office, will be operational at the Bunbury Recovery Centre from midday today through to next week to assist customers affected by the devastating bushfires in Yarloop.

Apia spokesperson Angela Wilkinson said: “These fires have been absolutely devastating to local communities. Our priority at this time is the safety of our customers and to also help residents begin rebuilding their lives as quickly as possible.”

“We understand that these are very challenging times for many residents whose homes and property have been significantly damaged by the bushfire.

“Having our team on the ground in affected areas allows customers to talk to us face-to-face and commence the claims process even if they are still without power or telecommunications.”

Located at the Leschenault Leisure Centre, Leisure Drive, Australind, the Customer Response Team will allow Apia customers to lodge their claims in person and access essential disaster response services including emergency funds and temporary accommodation.

Apia’s Home and Contents Insurance policy also provides access to counsellors who are trained to respond to the needs of people affected and impacted by bushfires.

“Counselling can offer much needed psychological and emotional support in what is often a very traumatic and distressing time.”

If customers cannot get to the CRT, they are encouraged to lodge claims online at www.apia.com.au or contact the Apia call centre 24 hours a day on 13 50 50.
