Anyone registering a motor vehicle in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) must have Compulsory Third Party (CTP) insurance. This is purchased when you register your car with Access Canberra. ACT motorists can choose their CTP insurer when renewing their registration.
To view the current CTP premiums in the ACT, visit the ACT Treasury webpage.
The way you’re covered by CTP Insurance in the ACT is changing from 1 February 2020. This will affect the support available to anyone injured in a motor vehicle accident. You don’t need to do anything to update your cover when the new scheme comes into effect. You can visit the Motor Accident Injuries Commission website or the MAI Insurance Reform page for more information.
