Multi-policy discount (MPD) rewards you with a discount off your premium for holding two or more eligible paid Apia general insurance policies. There must be a common mailing address and the person(s) seeking the discount must be nominated as an insured with the same name on each eligible policy. If you take out a new policy and then qualify for the MPD, you are eligible to receive the discount on that new policy immediately and on your other existing eligible policies from their next renewal date, provided you still qualify. If you become eligible around the time of your policy renewal and the discount is not shown on your certificate of insurance, please contact us as the MPD may not have been applied to the renewing policies.​ See full terms and conditions.

Lifetime guarantee on repair work

When we authorise repairs after an incident, the quality of the workmanship and the materials will be guaranteed for its life.

After Claim Expenses

If your car is stolen or damaged in an incident covered by your policy, we’ll cover:

  • reasonable costs for emergency repairs to make your car roadworthy or safe
  • reasonable costs for emergency accommodation if your car isn’t roadworthy or safe to drive and you’re more than 100km from home, and
  • accidental loss or damage to personal property in the car at the time of the incident.

A limit of $1,500 applies to any one incident.

New car replacement if yours is stolen

We'll replace your car with a new one if it's stolen, not recovered and is less than 10 years old (up to $40,000).

Other conditions apply and are explained in your PDS. For example, you must be the first registered owner of the car.

Loss or damage to your home and its contents

We’ll cover loss or damage to your home and its contents from events such as fire, theft, storm, flood, and vandalism.

Temporary Accomodation

If your home cannot be lived in after an insured event, we’ll pay for temporary accommodation costs for the time it will take to repair or rebuild your home (up to 10% of the home sum insured).

Motor burnout

We’ll cover the burning out or fusing of electric motors up to $2,000 per claim in household equipment or appliances which are part of your home and/or contents, depending on your cover.

Food and medication spoilage

We’ll cover spoilage of refrigerated food, frozen food and refrigerated medicines caused by:

  • the sudden escape of refrigerant fumes
  • electrical or electronic breakdown, failure or malfunction, or
  • the public electricity supply failing to reach the insured address.

A limit of $750 applies to any one incident.

Lock replacement if your keys are stolen

We’ll cover costs to replace or recode locks to external doors or windows of your home excess-free if your keys are stolen in Australia or New Zealand.

A limit of $1,000 applies for any one incident.

Loss from fraudulent use of stolen financial transaction cards

We’ll cover your loss excess-free if your credit cards or other financial transaction cards are physically stolen from your home and used fraudulently (less the amount covered by your card provider).

A limit of $1,500 applies for all claims made in any one period of insurance

Visitor’s contents

We’ll cover loss or damage to contents owned by invited visitors caused by an insured event.

This cover applies for a maximum period of 30 consecutive days and a limit of $2,000 applies to any one incident.

Apia Home Assist

Apia Home Assist provides you with access to an emergency assistance service if an incident requires the urgent attention of a plumber, electrician, locksmith, or carpenter.

Some geographical limitations apply to the availability of Apia Home Assist. Apia Home Assist is only available 24 hours after adding the option to a new or existing policy. Terms and Conditions apply.

Excess-free Glass cover

When you have Excess-free glass cover and claim for accidental breakage of fixed glass in windows, doors, skylights, shower screens or fixed mirrors which are part of the home, we cover the cost to replace that glass, without you having to pay an excess.

Windscreen and window glass cover

Enjoy one excess-free repair or replacement of your car's windscreen or window glass following damage in an incident in each period of insurance.

Hire car for unlimited days

If your car can’t be safely driven after an incident, is being repaired, or has been stolen, we’ll arrange a hire car of a similar make and model to your car (up to $90 per day) until your claim is settled or your car is returned.
