Explanations of insurance terms used on this site.
Agreed Value
Agreed Value means the dollar value of your car, caravan or motorhome, inclusive of all accessories and equipment as agreed to by us and shown on your certificate.
Most cars depreciate with age and use. Therefore the agreed value we offer each time your policy becomes due for renewal will almost always be lower than the previous year's value. Your agreed value is set at the beginning of each period of insurance.
Comprehensive
Comprehensive cover is available for your car insurance, caravan insurance or motorhome insurance.
Emergency Travel Assistance Card
The Apia Emergency travel Assistance card which you will receive with your travel insurance policy explains how you can get access to the international medical and travel assistance in the case of an emergency.
Legal Liability
Legal Liability means your legal responsibility to pay compensation for death, injury, loss or damage to another person or their property.
Lifetime Guarantee on Car & Motorhome Repairs
It's reassuring to know that the work carried out by our authorised repairers will be of the highest standard and is guaranteed for the life of the car – even if it’s sold.
Loss or Damage
Cover will be provided for loss or damage to those personal effects that are specified in the certificate of insurance up to the value stated for each of those effects.
Market Value
Market Value means the amount we calculate the market would pay for your car, caravan or motorhome in your local area. This includes the accessories or modifications we have agreed to insure. It takes into account the age, make, model, kilometers travelled and condition of your car, caravan or motorhome.
Not Working Full-time
Full time employment is deemed to be greater than 37.5 hours per week on average. To be eligible for Apia’s range of insurance policies you must be over 50 and working less than 37.5 hours per week on average.
