Ocean Grove local wins big thanks to Apia

While on holidays last month in New Zealand, Maggie Dickson, an Ocean Grove local, received an unexpected but welcome phone call, advising her she had won a new Nissan Micra after entering a competition run by Apia, the leading insurer for over 50s.

Entering the competition advertised on Channel 7’s Apia’s Guide to the Good Life, Ms Dickson’s prize included not only the new car, but also all on road costs and a year’s free Apia motor insurance.

Ms Dickson describes the win as “heaven sent”, making life easier for both her and her elderly mother. Having poor mobile reception while in New Zealand, she was extremely surprised to receive a phone call at all, but when it turned out to be a call from Apia advising her of her win, it was an even bigger shock.

“It’s really only just starting to sink in,” Ms Dickson said. “It’s all been a bit of a blur since the holiday, to be honest, but it really is a fantastic prize for me and my family and I am very thankful to Apia for this generous gift.”

Executive Manager of Apia, Grant Taylor, said that the competition run by Apia on the Guide to the Good Life had been extremely successful, and that he was pleased Ms Dickson’s new car would be useful and ready to be enjoyed in time for a summer full of trips.

“Apia would like to congratulate Ms Dickson on her win. As the leading insurer for over 50s in Australia, we realise the importance in having a good working vehicle to older Australians in helping them maintain their freedom and lifestyle. It really is great to know that this prize is going to someone like Ms Dickson,” Mr Taylor said.
