Apia Financial Advice - The Advice Process

When you Contact Us we’ll arrange a phone appointment for you with an Apia financial adviser, who will take you through this 4-step process:

1.      Establish your financial situation and identify your goals
During the first appointment we’ll gain an accurate picture of your income, expenses, assets and debts, and consider the direction you could take to achieve your short and long term goals.

2.      Customise a plan to your needs
When you choose to proceed, your Apia financial adviser will prepare a personalised financial plan, called a Statement of Advice, with recommendations and strategies to help you meet your financial goals.

3.      Implement your financial plan
Once you’re satisfied with your customised plan, your Apia financial adviser will manage the implementation of the plan, keeping you informed of the process along the way.

4.      Review your financial plan
Implementing your financial plan is just the beginning of your relationship with an Apia financial adviser. Keeping in touch with your adviser is essential because addressing changes to your personal circumstances, the economy or legislation will help you remain in control of your financial situation. Apia recommends that people review their financial plan every 12 months.

The first appointment

Your first appointment with an Apia financial adviser should take about 30 minutes over the phone. This appointment is free of cost and obligation.

During the appointment we’ll get an understanding of your needs and how we can help you. If you choose to proceed to a written financial plan, your financial adviser will explain any fees and charges that apply.

You won’t need to have any specific documents on hand, but these are some of the things we’re likely to discuss in your appointment:

  • Your income, debts and investments, including superannuation;
  • Your current level of insurance;
  • The expectations you have for your financial situation and lifestyle in retirement; and
  • We’ll address and questions you have.
